Project Hope is an exclusive partnership between PIB Group and Alzheimer’s Society, with backing from the PIB Community Trust.
PIB Group is on a mission to meet a £1m fundraising target to support groundbreaking research into dementia and associated diseases of the brain.
The project launched in 2024 to pay the cost of a five year research fellowship at Dundee University. This vital piece of research led by Dr Chris Henstridge is looking at how the build-up of a specific protein may lead to the breakdown of connections between brain cells in diseases which cause, and are closely linked to, dementia, such as Alzheimer’s and motor neurone disease.
More than £500,000 has been raised and committed by PIB so far, which puts us among the largest contributors to the industry-wide movement ‘Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD). We are helping change the landscape of dementia and other brain diseases for millions.
Can you help?
To help us achieve our target, we have extended our appeal across the company https://www.justgiving.com/team/pibgroup.
We have introduced a range of activities that we hope will encourage colleagues to get involved. Friends and family and colleagues are all very welcome to join in and help us meet the challenge while having fun at the same time.
Every penny counts and donations of all sizes are hugely appreciated – both by PIB and by our friends at Alzheimer’s Society.
To add further encouragement the PIB Community Trust will be offering match funding up to a total limit of £50,000 in 2025 towards the fundraising efforts of colleagues across PIB Group.
Project Hope podcast
This podcast, hosted by Group Chief Executive Officer Brendan McManus, explores Dr Henstridge's personal and professional journey into brain disease research, particularly dementia and Alzheimer’s, which was inspired by his own family experiences.
In the podcast, Dr Henstridge expresses optimism that, within five to ten years, ongoing research will yield more effective and targeted treatments.
